After a long and tiring flight I finally arrived in Denver. The flight from Brussels to London wasn't to bad, but in London I had to wait a long time.
The plane itself wasn't as nice as two weeks ago. I couldn't chose my own video, instead you get channels where movies are played in a loop. I guess I get to used to the "good" life ;-)
As we had a delay of 3 hours it was already 10 o'clock at night in Denver. It looks like the city is still awake, but I'm to tired to go out.
I'm staying in the Hyatt hotel. This is the hotel where Collaborate08 is going to be held in the next days. The Hyatt looks nice, although I didn't have time to explore all yet. But the pictures are promising.
Denver looks nice. Been awhile since I've been there.
ReplyDeleteDrink a couple pints for me and keep the APEX vibe strong ;)

Dimitri,
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to meeting you and John at Collaborate. Hope you enjoy your time here in wonderful Colorado and have a chance to see some of the sights, though if you have a room on the west side of the hotel and are on a high enough floor, you should already have some decent views. Since you got in last night, you should alos have missed most, if not all, of the snow we had here the last couple days. The weather for next week sounds like it's going to be pretty nice, in the 60's and 70's.
However, it's my understanding that Collborate is at the Convention Center, not at the Hyatt, though they may be close together.

Hi Bill,
ReplyDeleteYou're right. The Conference Location is Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street, Denver, CO 80202.
I got a lot of mails of people staying in the Hyatt, I guess that confused me.
If we bump against each other, stop me so we can have a chat. Look forward to meet you.
Dimitri
PS/ Yes, I missed the snow, but it was still cold when I arrived ;-)
That's okay Dimitri. Since you had a long flight and got in late, the confusion is understandable. :^)
ReplyDeleteI'll probably be getting there (the Convention Center) early each day, around 6:30 or so. From where I live the traffic builds up fast heading into Denver. Early, I can make the trip in about 20 minutes. After 7:00 and the trip easily takes twice as long if not longer. The worst thing is 'All Day' parking across the street from the Convention Center costs $10, which only counts up til 4:00, then you need to run over and pay even more money for the 'night time' parking.
If you get over to Convention Center early, I'll be an old (just turned 50 yesterday), tall, goofy looking guy with grayish hair. I always wear jeans and probably be wearing a leather jacket. I usually hang out around the registration area until the breakfast area opens. :^)

ReplyDeleteOh I don't think it beats APEX, It's the new thing that everybody seems to like, but building complex applications with it is fairly difficult, especially if you are dealing with legacy tables and/or tables that are still in development.
Don't get me wrong I've seen some nice Ruby applications but I can guarantee you can build and modify applications much faster in APEX.
