APEX 5.0 (EA) Page Designer video's

APEX 5.0 early adopter is about to be released in the public.

Requesting a workspace is not working yet at the time of writing this post, but I expect it can be opened every moment now.

APEX 5.0 carries many new features, one of the biggest is the new Page Designer which should increase developer productivity even more. David Peake recorded some videos, here's the APEX 5.0 Page Designer Overview:

You find more detailed videos for the specific sections of the APEX 5.0 Page Designer on YouTube:

Congrats to the Oracle APEX development team for delivering APEX 5.0! It looks awesome.

Great News!! We've been anxiously awaiting this release. I'm doing a presentation on using Apex with the new RESTful web services and it will be good to add a slide on some of the new features in 5.0 that soon will be available.

Do you know if there will be any integration of some of the newer responsive design frameworks like ZURB Foundation? Ous university seems to be adopting that as our main web framework. Would be nice if it was 'easy' to build Apex apps to be compatibile with that framework.

I've got an account... Let's go to try it!

Hi Pat,

APEX 4.2.4 already included Twitter Bootstrap.
I'm unsure ZURB Foundation will be included too.

Great

From point of performance, it would be a good idea to move the APEX from database to the PL/SQL or ADA multi-threaded server. Or make cross compiler from APEX PL/SQL apps to java apps to run APEX apps on Weblogic. It is like Oracle Forms: you develop app with PL/SQL, app runs on jvm.

Hi "Anonymous",

The architecture of APEX is a bit different.
APEX (PL/SQL) generates HTML pages, so no need for a jvm.

I just saw the following Blog from a your fellow Belgian, Nick Buytaert, with themes he built for both Foundation and Bootstrap. It would be great to have themes using both front end frameworks released with Apex 5.

Another great feature of 5.0 I was just reading about is support for external SSO and LDAP groups!

Hi "Anonymous",

Forms doesn't run on a JVM either.

Hi Mikael,

Forms since 9i/10g does indeed run on a JVM in the client browser.
